Known as America’s Healthiest Grocery Store™ and now a subsidiary of ecommerce giant, Amazon, Whole Foods Market takes local seriously. Each location in their 500-store portfolio allows shoppers to discover unique products from growers, artisans and makers in the communities they serve. To further the custom shopping experience, the health food grocer takes inspiration from the architecture, history, and personality of these communities and incorporates it into their store designs.
For LSI, the local flare was two-fold when Whole Foods Market opened a store near LSI’s headquarters in Cincinnati. As an LSI customer, the graphics team has worked closely with the grocery chain’s store design team to translate design plans for dozens of stores into built works of art, and to add Cincy to that list was a delight. For Whole Foods Market, custom décor, wayfinding and signage elements are made and formed from a variety of wood species, metals, acrylics and other substrates and through distinctive manufacturing processes. The work is a testament to the craftsmanship and creativity involved in creating a unique physical retail experience and a nod to the team members who, like the food growers, artisans and makers, are bringing a meaningful local vibe to stores across the country.
